Hello, hello, hello... Amaichiin People, my fellow citizens of the world! How are you? Welcome once again to Carlos Spanish Vibes.
Today, we will continue our journey exploring my arrival in Canada, our final destination. An adventure that continues to surprise me every day from my personal experience. But before we dive into this new episode, let's take a look at a brief reminder of the last article.
After completing my studies in San Cristóbal, Venezuela, I returned home to Lecherías in search of work and stability. Faced with the challenging situation in the country, I contemplated migrating to South Africa, but fear led me to cancel the trip at the last minute. Over time, the crisis in Venezuela worsened, and the decision to migrate became inevitable. Leading the family, we left the country in search of a better future. This chapter marks the beginning of a new life, an escape I hadn't imagined years ago. The definition of migration comes to life in this adventure of growth, learning, and life-changing decisions, ultimately reaching Canada.
Unexpected Turn: The Adventure of Migrating Again!
At that moment, we never imagined that my sister and I would migrate once more. But that's a story I'll share in upcoming blogs because today, we'll focus on a very special chapter: my arrival in Canada. It's curious to come back and read these episodes written a few years ago, now that I've migrated to Mexico.
My Arrival in Canada – Final Destination?, New Beginnings.
CANADA OH¡! CANADA¡!
A cold and cloudy spring day, without the necessary protection—just a light coat, a backpack, and a lot of hope—marked our arrival in the city of Montreal, my mom, my sister, and me. Our Canadian adventure began there, and from that day until now, I can't stop being amazed at how wonderful Canada is and the beauty of my city, Montreal, which I used to say I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. I see the evolution of my family, I see it grow, and become increasingly united and strong. Every day, I am grateful for the opportunities that were given to us.
At first, the journey was challenging as we adapted to the cold, the new language, and a city that wasn't easy. However, excitement and novelty kept us alert and busy. The first months flew by with endless procedures, paperwork, banking tasks, school enrollments, and the search for a place we could finally call home. Starting anew involves leaving behind a mix of conflicting feelings—nostalgia and the constant desire to improve intertwine with doubts and ongoing effort, but always moving forward..

Adaptation unfolded gradually. I found various jobs, attended French classes, built friendships, and little by little, we became locals. This country, this city, represented liberation for me. Here, diversity was a constant, and I could finally grow and be myself. I spread my wings and allowed myself to be seen. After so many years concerned about others' opinions, I could finally be me, have fun, go out, have relationships, friends; simply BE.
Montreal could be overwhelming and easily envelop you in the ecstasy of freedom. Carelessly, you could veer towards easy paths to get lost. Thanks to my education and values, I managed to balance the emerging Carlos— independent, authentic, and happy—with my essence and principles. It was an incredible few years of discoveries in every aspect: personal, professional, emotional, and much more.
After several months (2 years to be exact) and after many more papers and protocols, we managed to obtain a special permit for my father to finally join us here in Canada—practically a Christmas gift. Literally, my dad arrived on Christmas Day after a little over 2 years without seeing him. This brought us together and strengthened us as a family. Of course, after all this time, learning the language, adapting, many things have evolved. I have two beautiful nieces who are my princesses, a strong and determined mother giving her best to her children, a wonderful sister, and an incomparable father. An incredible Latino-Canadian family... a perfect SPANGLISH in total harmony. I'll surely tell you more about that in upcoming articles, along with those early years in Montreal, jobs, anecdotes, and much more.
There, I had the joy of meeting my new family, my citizens of the world, my ranchero family of tacos and tequilas, my best friend and Mexican brother, my welcoming and wonderful Quebecois, the hopeful Venezuelans dreaming of a free Venezuela. A mix of good things, experiences, and culture. That's Montreal, that's my wonderful city.
Today, we are already Canadians, and if we could turn back time and had to do it all over again, we would still choose to migrate to Canada once more. Even though it took us several months and many challenges overcome, we managed to reunite as a family in Canada. An experience that brought us together and strengthened us. But life had another surprise in store for us. We never thought that, after settling in Canada, 20 years later to be exact, the opportunity to embark on a new migratory adventure would arise. Mexico? How did we get there? Stay tuned for stories in upcoming articles to find out!
An evident conclusion from all of this is that we're never truly prepared for the situations we face in life. The key is to approach them with positive energy, conquer fears and attachments to cultivate a winning mindset. Grow and learn, always letting go of the negative.
Life presents us with new challenges and experiences, and I'm excited to share them with you. Don't forget to leave a comment or ask anything you'd like us to discuss in future articles.
Bizz Bizz, and until the next story... Living the world, one adventure at a time!
